Y is for Yaris
This is my new car! I got it about a month ago and it's the cutest thing ever! My penpal has one just like it except hers is blue. Sully has his own area in the back because the back seats fold down nearly flat. And I can park in a mailbox if I need to!

Cards for sale
If you've got a baby to announce or some people to thank for gifts (wedding and shower), I found a stash of the cutest vintage cards just for those occasions. And since I don't have either of those things, I'm selling them. They're in my Etsy shop.

A-Z of me
X is for Xylophone
I know you probably won't believe this but I played the xylophone. Well, technically, I played the bells which are shorter and more often seen in marching bands/school bands. But same principle as the xylophone. I was at my parent's house today and my mom had made wind chimes out of the bars of my old bells. The sound was amazing! I would have asked for one but I kind of think wind chimes in town are sort of rude to your neighbors. Not everyone wants to hear your tink-tink-tinklings.

W is for Waffles
We love waffles! The other day on tv some organizing lady was talking about gadgets and how you should get rid of all your waffle irons/Foreman grills/bread machines/ice cream makers/etc. Crazy lady! I actually use those things! I mean, not that we make waffles EVERY weekend but we enjoy waffles enough that I don't mind storing the waffle iron. Sheesh! And yes, the bread machine is gigantic but I am not ashamed to admit that yeast bread is one of the few things I am terrible at in the kitchen. I do all my bread/rolls in there, even if I finished them off by hand with one last knead and rise. I just can't ever get my bread/rolls to rise as well on my own. So back to waffles! Mike invented waffle toast, which is french toast cooked in the waffle iron. Delicious! Speaking of waffle toast, I might make some of that tomorrow! Yum!

V is for veggies
I've been vegetarian for over 10 years now. I'm not the organic, brown rice, lentils and wheat grass kind of vegetarian. I eat a lot of pizza, pasta and sweets. I make vegetarian meatloaf, sloppy joes and sweet and sour meatballs. I love cheese and ice cream and am not so hot on spinach or beets (unless pickled). Mike has recently gone vegetarian too and I kind of can't get used to it. I bought him meaty hot pockets the other day. And I still have a coupon for hot dogs in my purse for him.
I collect the stickers that come on fruits and vegetables. The other day at the antique mall I found a recipe book about salads that I'm going to use as an album to keep my fruit and veggie stickers in! It will be my first altered book project!
And I'm going to give you the scoop on a swap I am hosting next month! I am next month's swap host at Create a Connection and the theme of my swap is.......

U is for Up, Make-
I don't wear make-up. I never have. I own make-up, it's probably ten years old and tomorrow I plan to use my day off to go through it and throw most of it away. (Can't right now, Mike's asleep in there.) I do like Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. And Bath and Body Works slightly sparkly shimmer body powder/lotion. And I admit, I don't even think I know how to apply make-up. I read the teen magazines as a kid, I'm sure I've got the basics down but I have no idea what colors or exactly where to stroke the blush, how high up to go with the eye shadow or where to outline my lips in lipliner. That's ok. I'll be un-gussied up.

Pleasant surprise
The other day I overheard some ladies talking about puppies and how cute they were . "Oh, I know, did you see the one on the top? It looked like a puffball!" "I did see that one, but I liked the brown and white one, it had freckles!" Etcetera, etcetera. I thought for sure they were talking about puppies they had seen in the new petstore in town that, sadly and upsettingly, sells puppies. They continued on and off all day and while I would never say anything to them, I was getting quite upset because one of them was actively looking for a puppy and I thought sure she had decided on one from the store. She talked about calling them and asking more questions about it.
I was so relived when, at the end of the day, a new person joined the conversation and they explained they were oohing and ahhing over all the puppies on PetFinder. :) Hooray for adoption!

Fall Into Autumn Dishcloth Swap Questionnaire
1. Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been doing it?
I am bi-craftular, I do both! I've been crocheting for about 8 years and knitting for about 7.
2. Have you made dischloths before? Do you use them yourself, give them as gifts, or both?
Yes, I love dishcloths! They're so fast and there are so many different patterns! I use them and give them as gifts along with soaps, bath beads, etc.
3. What's your favorite cotton to make cloths from? What cotton would you like to try that you haven't before ?
I usually use Peaches and Cream/Sugar and Cream because you can almost always find it on sale somewhere. But I also like cotton chenille and for this swap I've purchased some more upscale cotton yarn that is exceedingly soft!
4. If you knit, do you prefer circular or straight needles? For all, do you prefer wooden, metal, or plastic needles?
Well, I use whatever the pattern tells me to, I'm not much for improvising. I like plastic with really pointy tips!
5. What are your favorite colors? Any colors you don't like much?
I love reds, pinks and oranges. But for the bathroom I like blues and greens too. And purple! I like to use variegated yarns.
6. What do you like best about Autumn?
I like bundling up! And drinking warm drinks. Don't get me wrong, I like to be outside but I also love when it gets too cold to stay out very long because it's so cozy to come back inside and be warm!
7. Pies: Pumpkin? Apple? Pecan? All of em? or No Thanks!
All pies! Any pies! I love to make pie and eat pie! If I had to choose from those three, I would pick apple because it goes so well with cheddar cheese AND with ice cream.
8. When you were a kid, were you the one who couldn't wait to get started with school , or the one who overslept on the 1st day?
I was always very nervous about school starting. I always over planned and checked and rechecked my supply list, picked out my outfit and really scrutinized it.
9. Do you celebrate Halloween? (The real key here guys is especially knowing if you have an aversion to the holiday or little goodies/decorations associated with it, given the timeframe of the swap)
Yes! I love to dress up and we have a big Halloween party at work! I love vintage-feel Halloween items.
10. If you had to choose just 3 edible 'goodies' to eat for a full year, what 3 would you choose?
Cupcakes, string cheese and Fuji apples.
11. Do you have any pets? Kids? Husbands who seem like kids?
One corgi, one cat and one goldfish. No kids. One husband but he isn't any more or less like a child then I am. :)
12. If you were to describe a particular yarn that shares traits of your personality, what would it be and why?
I would like to think I am like a good multipurpose worsted weight superwash wool. Steady, reliable, washable, durable and cozy.
13. Do you use your cloths mostly for dishcloths, or as facecloths?
Dishcloths/dusting rags/mop-up-the-counter cloths. My dishrags get use and abused but they make me smile while I'm doing yucky work. But if I got a fancy-pants cloth, I might use it in the bath.
14. Favorite Fall Holiday: Halloween or Thanksgiving and why? (Feel free to share another fall memory if you do not celebrate either of these holidays)
Halloween! I have the best memories of Halloween and even now, even though I can't Trick Or Treat and we don't get any Trick or Treaters where we live, I can feel Halloween mischief in the air!
