This week's topic:
"How was your experience in the exchange? Did you enjoy the folks you met? Did you just love the cloth and goodies you received? Please share any thoughts, criticism, and things you loved!"
So far, I have enjoyed keeping in touch with my sending and recieving pal! I really like secret pal exchanges and the secrecy that goes along with it, sending anonymous ecards and such. I haven't recieved anything yet but I'm sure I'll love it when it gets here. The weekly topic has helped me keep in touch and reminded me every week that I am part of the group. I haven't been able to visit as many people's blogs as I would have liked, I've been busy preparing for our dog show this weekend/4-H starting up this fall but when I get a chance, I'd like to at least pop in to everyone's blogs at least once. The hostesses have been very helpful, answering any questions I had and dealing with a little bobble there at the start.

Fall Into Autumn Topic of the Week
This weeks topic:
"Are you the type that likes to go to participate in all the fall festivities like apple picking, pumpkins, decorating for the fall, hay rides, baking fall goodies, etc. or do you just sit and count the days till Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah?"
Oh how I do love fall, everything fall! I love the weather, it makes being outside so much more enjoyable than dreary, rainy spring, hot, steamy summer or blistery cold winter. But I can't say that I do too many organized fall activities. I enjoy walking the dog and tend to take longer walks on nice fall evenings. We usually each carve a pumpkin and we might visit the local orchard (though it's a little touristy with it's goat pen and hokey trinket shop). On the farm, we were big on bonfires or even smaller-than-bon-size fires in the fall but here in town you can't burn things. I do wish there was more time between Halloween and Thanksgiving though. As soon as you put the tombstones, skeletons and purple lights up, you have to take them down to put up the turkeys and gourds!
On a different note, keep your eyes peeled here this week as our tutorials will be featuring items to make for you four-legged friends!

Note to my secret dishcloth pal
Dearest Secret Dishcloth Pal-
I didn't meant to be a tattle tail, I understand we all get busy. But I was worried about you and being a secret swap, I had no way to contact you! I am glad you are ok! And thank you for getting in touch with me, I love all your comments and I like knowing you are around.

Fall into Autumn Topic of the Week
This week's question is: Are there any recipes you especially enjoy
having in the Fall? Any foods that are seasonal that you especially
enjoy?
I love fall foods, mostly because it's when you can start baking for reals because it's cool enough to have the oven on! I love baking! Last night I made apple crisp with Krispy Kreme
donut topping, which is the recipe I an entering in the href="http://www.tasteofthesouthmagazine.com/krispykreme/krispyrecipe_0807.php">Recipe
Contest! I'll be making cupcakes later this week for my craft
group meeting on Saturday. I love pies and cakes and crumbles and cobblers and cookies and brownies!
I also love soups! I love making potato soup and vegetable soup! Yum! Pop some ingredients in the bread machine and simmer a pot on the stove!
I also love making mulled cider in the crock pot. Mmmm, it smells so good! I call it Wassail but I guess wassail is more alcoholic than my tea-cider-spices combination.

Fall into Autumn Weekly Topic
This week's topic is:
Autumn has now officially begun here in the States!! What is your favorite thing about Autumn/Fall? Why?
I really do LOVE fall! But my favorite thing would have to be the colors.
I love fall colors and now is when we start seeing them not only in
nature but also in seasonal decorations and also in other areas of
shopping like sheets and dishware and clothing! My outfit today for
example is brown corduroys, an orange and brown print top and a tan cable cardigan sweater. I've switched our tablecloth out to an orange and white floral print, harvested the first pumpkins (seen here!) and will soon be putting the red slipcovers on the furniture for the fall and winter months. All those lovely, warm colors!

Fall Into Autumn Topic of the Week
This week's topic is about knitting preferences.
When you knit or crochet dishclothes, washclothes or face clothes, what do you use? What size needle or hook? Wood? what type? Metal? Plastic? A specific Brand? Why do you love that needle or hook so much? Is there one you are dying to try? Is there a particular yarn you love and use all the time for clothes? What is so special about it?
Simply stated, I use whatever the pattern tells me. I use the yarn they say and the size needle or hook they say. I have seen what veering off the path can result in and it's a waste of my money and effort to produce something "creative" that turns out to look terrible. As far as wood/plastic/bamboo needles, I prefer the plastic "baleen" needles with a good pointy tip. I dislike wood for working on anything but socks and other double-pointed projects and I dislike metal because I hold my needle like I hold my pencil-very firmly and incorrectly so that it presses into my right ring finger near the nail.

Fall into Autumn Weekly Topic
This week's Fall into Autumn topic is about yarn and seasonal changes.
I tend to knit more in the winter, as I'm sure many people do. I'm
getting so excited for fall, I wore my rainbow fingerless gloves for
the first time to walk the dog this morning! In the warmer seasons I
knit smaller items so they aren't so stifling laying across your lap.
But I don'tnecessarily change the yarn I use with the seasons. I always
use a lot of cotton yarn no matter what the weather, and I think
worsted wool is pretty all seasonyarn to knit with. This summer, most of my knitting/crocheting was done with acrylic, though, for all that play food. (Check out Ravelry for all my projects.) I think any season will do for getting frustrated with acrylic!

Shout out to my Fall into Autumn secret pal
To the wonderful person who will be sending to me:
Hello! I got my pal this morning so you have probably glanced at my blog already. I just wanted to say hi and thank you for signing up to spoil me!
About soaps: I don't really like flowered scents and it's coming up on fall so spicy, fall baking or fruity smells would be awesome! Also, I like clean smells (fresh cotton, general soap smell) and oatmeal milk and honey fragranced items.
About yarn: I like any and all yarn. I am frugal and if left to my own devices will go for more but cheaper yarn rather than buying smaller quantities of more posh yarn. But that doesn't mean I don't like posh yarn! (I do like to bend the spending rules for spoiling my own swap partners! I'm just very frugal when it comes to spending on myself.)
About other treats: It's still kind of warm here and chocolate, much as I like it, would probably melt and mess. I like hard candies though, and sugar free gum and lollies and twizzlers and real licorice and gummy candies! I don't generally like sour candy. I LOVE fun memo pads, stationery items, stickers, post-its, recipe cards, and I collect the stickers that come on fruits and veggies. If you'd send me a few of those, boy, you'd rank in my book!

Fall Into Autumn Dishcloth Swap Questionnaire
1. Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been doing it?
I am bi-craftular, I do both! I've been crocheting for about 8 years and knitting for about 7.
2. Have you made dischloths before? Do you use them yourself, give them as gifts, or both?
Yes, I love dishcloths! They're so fast and there are so many different patterns! I use them and give them as gifts along with soaps, bath beads, etc.
3. What's your favorite cotton to make cloths from? What cotton would you like to try that you haven't before ?
I usually use Peaches and Cream/Sugar and Cream because you can almost always find it on sale somewhere. But I also like cotton chenille and for this swap I've purchased some more upscale cotton yarn that is exceedingly soft!
4. If you knit, do you prefer circular or straight needles? For all, do you prefer wooden, metal, or plastic needles?
Well, I use whatever the pattern tells me to, I'm not much for improvising. I like plastic with really pointy tips!
5. What are your favorite colors? Any colors you don't like much?
I love reds, pinks and oranges. But for the bathroom I like blues and greens too. And purple! I like to use variegated yarns.
6. What do you like best about Autumn?
I like bundling up! And drinking warm drinks. Don't get me wrong, I like to be outside but I also love when it gets too cold to stay out very long because it's so cozy to come back inside and be warm!
7. Pies: Pumpkin? Apple? Pecan? All of em? or No Thanks!
All pies! Any pies! I love to make pie and eat pie! If I had to choose from those three, I would pick apple because it goes so well with cheddar cheese AND with ice cream.
8. When you were a kid, were you the one who couldn't wait to get started with school , or the one who overslept on the 1st day?
I was always very nervous about school starting. I always over planned and checked and rechecked my supply list, picked out my outfit and really scrutinized it.
9. Do you celebrate Halloween? (The real key here guys is especially knowing if you have an aversion to the holiday or little goodies/decorations associated with it, given the timeframe of the swap)
Yes! I love to dress up and we have a big Halloween party at work! I love vintage-feel Halloween items.
10. If you had to choose just 3 edible 'goodies' to eat for a full year, what 3 would you choose?
Cupcakes, string cheese and Fuji apples.
11. Do you have any pets? Kids? Husbands who seem like kids?
One corgi, one cat and one goldfish. No kids. One husband but he isn't any more or less like a child then I am. :)
12. If you were to describe a particular yarn that shares traits of your personality, what would it be and why?
I would like to think I am like a good multipurpose worsted weight superwash wool. Steady, reliable, washable, durable and cozy.
13. Do you use your cloths mostly for dishcloths, or as facecloths?
Dishcloths/dusting rags/mop-up-the-counter cloths. My dishrags get use and abused but they make me smile while I'm doing yucky work. But if I got a fancy-pants cloth, I might use it in the bath.
14. Favorite Fall Holiday: Halloween or Thanksgiving and why? (Feel free to share another fall memory if you do not celebrate either of these holidays)
Halloween! I have the best memories of Halloween and even now, even though I can't Trick Or Treat and we don't get any Trick or Treaters where we live, I can feel Halloween mischief in the air!
15. Do you have any allergies or aversions your pal should know about?
None.
I am bi-craftular, I do both! I've been crocheting for about 8 years and knitting for about 7.
