Tagged by CC

I am very late in posting this. CC tagged me back on Thanksgiving!

6 random things about Jenna

1-I thought I hated red velvet cake until this weekend. Ever since a horrible experience baking a red velvet cake in my bread machine (it says it can make cakes!) I just thought it was a terrible flavor. But I got brave and tried one at the Renegade Craft Fair on Saturday and it was.....ok! I guess it's just the flavor of cake in the bread machine I don't like.

2-I have to write "brush teeth" on my daily list of to-dos or I won't remember to do it.

3-Reading in bed is one of my favorite evening activities and as anyone who has a husband who works odd hours knows, you don't get read in bed when you're husband has been asleep in said bed since 5 pm. So I relish Friday and Saturday nights when I can curl up under the covers and read until my eyelids are so heavy I pass out.

4-I've had my new car for exactly one year now. (In case you forgot since then, last December I had a car accident and totaled my car but my wonderful husband made sure I got one JUST like it so everything would be like it never happened.) And today the roads were SOOOO icy I could just imagine it happening again and kept stealing paranoid glances in my rear-view mirror.

5-I have gained about 10 pounds since I haven't gone to the gym since.....(checking day planner)....August. Ack!

6-Uuuh, let's see. Number 6. I'm kind of drawing a blank. I just finished a book called Gardens of the Early Midwest. It was published by the Conner Prairie in Indiana which is a historic re-enactment place. It got me thinking about where I would like to have our 10th anniversary party (2010) because I'd love a place like that! Sadly, our anniversary is in February so it has to be indoors. Unless we want to do some sort of rustic sleigh ride/bon fire/cocoa themed event. :) I've been dreaming of a big spectacular party, but we'll probably just do a simply affair here at the house. It's fun to pretend we could have a grand soiree though! When we got married, we agreed we'd have a party after 10 years because that's actually something to celebrate as opposed to a wedding, which is really not an accomplishment at all. Sticking together for 10 years? Yeah, that deserves a party!

Tagged

Pam, of the awesome Pass It On Plates and her blog, tagged me.

So, I'm supposed to share 7 things (7!) that you didn't already know about me. I can guarantee at least some of you knew at least some of these things already but maybe you'll find a couple that are interesting new facts.

I may appear relatively "in the know" about technology. I can use a computer, I have to know HTML for work, I can handle a multi-line phone. But I am actually very terrible at anything with buttons. Mike takes care of the Tivo/DVD/etc. and I basically just watch whatever he puts on. Good thing we like a lot of the same shows! A friend from high school finally convinced me to get on MySpace so if anyone wants to be friends, that'd be cool. And the one people can't believe when I tell them, I don't have a cel phone.

I played the glockenspiel in school band. I quit because the instructor also made me learn snare, bass and tympani drums. Damn it, woman, I just wanted to play my tinkles!

I can never remember the titles of movies. You can talk and talk about movies and unless you go into the plot of each one, I will have no idea what movies you're talking about. I remember the movies, it's not that I don't remember what happened. I just don't retain their titles.

I have sort of a thing for socks, especially knee highs. I just spoiled myself at Sock Dreams, including these delicious thigh high striped ones.

I LOVE reading in the evenings. But our living room furniture is more for tv watching and chatting than for reading. So I just put a recliner in my craft room. I'm creating a reading nook. I'll be adding a nice lamp on my bookcase and a magazine rack nearby.

What am I reading right now? Why, a Little House on the Prairie book, of course! The Long Winter. And the latest issue of Quilts and More!

I wear no makeup. None. This weekend I went to a Pampered Chef party and wanted to look a little more "weekend" since it was hosted by a coworker so I put on Burt's Bees tinted lip gloss. I think that doesn't even count, though.

So Honored

I am so honored that Cathy over at The Christmas Corgi Blog thought highly enough of me and my little blog here to award us the Arte y Pico award. She is such a fantastically fun artist, her colorful, corgi-filled paintings are a delight! It tickles me that anyone even reads CorgiPants, let alone thinks it's fun and creative! Thanks Cathy! And now it's my turn to choose 5 (or so) 5 blogs that deserve this award, based on creativity, design, interesting material, and contributions to the blogger community. Please visit these great ladies, maybe you'll find a new blog to read or a new project to try out.

First up, Bertha of Karma Kitties. I have known Bertha since we were both on Livejournal. I fell for her kitty illustrations! But she is an A+ super knitter. She whips out socks like I wish I could, and they're beautiful, not just some shabby worsted weight uglies but fancy, lacey dainties! Mmm, and her delicious yarn porn on flickr!

Next we have Miriam of Crafter by Night. Miriam is all kinds of crafty! Lately I've been watching her tasty delights come out of her kitchen. I like to watch what pops up on her flickr!

Drewzel is also a long-time read of mine. I think I found her through Loobylu, back in the days of a Month of Softies. Remember that? Anyway, Drewzel is amazingly talented and has some crafty endevours going on! I wish to channel her creative and productive energies as I venture into my own crafty endevours. She is in Australia (hence the Loobylu linkage) and is a member of Brown Owls.

Now, allow me to make an aside here within my award-giving-out post. I don't know where I have been but this group was totally unbeknownst to me until last week! I think those Aussies are so lucky to have a place and a group that they can religiously craft together with. And I hope that everyone believes me when I say the Make-Do Marigolds and the whole Make-Do Mail/projects/badges thing, while I certainly drew inspiration from several places, has been in my head sometime and I've been working on the whole concept and writing the first edition booklet for a while now. I'm not a copycat, I promise! I hope no one sees it that way.

Back to the awards!

Sarah of Craft and Clutter certianly deserves mention! She's got the crafty spirit, some of which I got to see in person when I won her blog contest and might I say that banner was the perfect decoration for Mike's birthday and is still hanging up because it is just so darn cheerful! She's got a cute pup and makes super cute crafts! I like that I've seen several clothepin dolls on her blog. Oh, and she likes American Girls dolls, speaking of which, I'd love to see more pictures of them in their new setup!

And one more! Happy Zombie's Monica gets my last award because her blog is pure eye candy! From the blog design itself to all those lovely projects! Delish! Free Projects, my most favoritest of internet things! And she's a swapper so we always get to see what she makes and what she gets!

There you have it, some (but certainly not all) of my blog favorites. Ladies, you keep me entertained and in awe!

Let us revisit my old blog.

I have been tagged by Miriam/Crafter by Night for this meme about archived blog posts. Here's the low-down:

Go back through your archives and post the links to your five favorite blog posts that you’ve written. But there is a catch:
Link 1 must be about family.
Link 2 must be about friends.
Link 3 must be about yourself, who you are… what you’re all about.
Link 4 must be about something you love.
Link 5 can be about anything you choose.

Post your five links and then tag five other people. At least TWO of the people you tag must be newer acquaintances so that you get to know each other better.

Since this blog is relatively new, I am taking some posts from my older blog, Weddedblog.

Link #1-This post may not look like it is about family at first, but I love it because it includes pictures of my henna'd hands, which I did for our anniversary that year. There are also a LOT of pictures of swap items, etc. so overall a fun post!

Link #2-Maybe it's because it's nearing Valentine's Day or our Anniversary but this post about my very best friend, my husband, fits the bill for #2.

Link #3-A little story that really sums me up.

Link #4-I love dogs! And this post about the dogs that have come and gone throughout my life gives you a taste of that obsession.

Link #5-This post about the SwapDex reminds me that I have a few new items to mention! Gracie reviewed the SwapDex on her blog, Sew Swank. Lots of people have added the button to their sidebar and this month, several nice people like Sue and Alice have blogged such nice things about it!

And now, to choose 5 people. Mind you, do not feel obligated to blog this, it's just a suggestion. I tag: yourstilniagarafalls, Anne, Julo, Bertha, and thequeenv.
