Pumpkins before they're planted!

I haven't even planted my pumpkin seeds in my garden! (I am WAY behind, it was cold for so long and now it's so darn HOT!) But I finished this table runner top.It just needs me to cut a back for it and quilt it! I used this tutorial and I want to find the same stripe she used for the binding, it looks like licorice to me! This is another project to take to the fair, in case you're wondering why I'm working on fall-themed projects!

Over the weekend, Sully earned his Level 1 Championship title in APDT Rally! He got a second place and a fifth place in level 1 and a second and a fourth place in level 2, not too shabby! He is such a star!!

New News

Old News:I earned my Presidential Champions Silver Award on April 29th! I log my fitness every two weeks so I didn't find out until last week though. :)

Newer News:Mike and I walked a 5K relay, the TwinCity Twosome, this past weekend! I'm super proud of him for participating with me and for really working on being more physically active for the past few months! AND we got second place husband-wife walking team!! Unintended side effect: I walked part of the second half backwards so I could chat with Mike without taking up the whole trail (since runners were passing us) and MAN was I sore the next day!

Future News:
We booked a trip to Disney World to celebrate our 10th anniversary!! We'll be going in September so we have a few months to plan and get really excited! We'll be staying for 6 days at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I can honestly say I am MOST looking forward to spending uninterrupted time with my husband and trying out ALL of the fantastic restaurants I keep reading about! Like Jiko and Narcoossee's and Citricos! And meeting Chip 'n' Dale and Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland!

Bike to Work

Biking to work went super-swell!It is 2.5 miles from home to work, the perfect distance to get a nice ride but not be sweaty and it was a gorgeous day to be out riding!Unbeknownst to me, Mike followed me in the truck until I got to the first main road. (To make sure I obeying safety rules and wasn't swerving into traffic, I guess.)The Clematis are in full bloom! And sheltered beneath them are my veggie seedlings, almost ready to transplant into the garden. After it stops dipping down into the 40s at night! This year I sold my spare seedlings at work and made over $100 which is going toward my St. Jude Relay fund!
Yesterday was Sully's 7th birthday! We didn't have a party this year but he got a new bowl and he has another herding lesson this Sunday! To celebrate, I made Corgi cookies to take to Rally class tonight. I made a whole pan of sheep cookies too but I burnt them! Ack!

Tour the garden?

I was enjoying lunch in the courtyard and decided to take a picture of my egg salad sandwich and the lovely greenery behind it.Then I thought "Why don't I take a little tour with my camera and take some pictures on this lovely spring day!" You can see we're going to have a great crop of blackberries:The front tulips long the drive get all the attention but I feel like this little bed in the backyard are my private tulips. I'm sharing them with you now!You can see my mulch paths in my vegetable garden here. In the bottom left quadrant I've started carrots, sugar peas, radishes and beets. You might be able to make out the string that marks the rows and the little metal name plates.Have you ever seen a Hawthorne tree? Check out the thorns that grow not only on the branches but up the trunk as well. We keep them trimmed at eye level and below so that no one stumbles into one! Those are some fun things I noticed on my little walk. Once the vegetable garden gets going again, I'll have LOTS more to show!

Recently finished

I got my Pampered Pooch quilt all done! I am near agony at not being able to use it until after the fair in July, though! And I finished and blocked my doily for the fair this year. It's called Irish Rose and I used a new-to-me thread called Lizbeth that I have fallen in LOVE with, it's so smooth and comes in awesome colors! Not a craft but I made this angel food cake in a loaf pan the other day for a tea party at a friend's house and it was so pretty with it's pink cherry frosting! The cake had maraschino cherries in it too! Here are two cross stitch ornaments I finished and will also take to the fair. And more food! I made these macaroons from a recipe I had been wanting to try. It made WAY more than I thought it would (recipe said 20 but I ended up with over 30) so I made little May Day baskets for friends and filled them with macaroons!
